Training more than 50,000 traders in these India cities.
India’s merchants and traders are critical to the success of India’s less cash economy transformation. As a result, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), in partnership with MasterCard, is working to ensure India’s traders realize the full benefits of the digitization of payments. Since launching this initiative in 2015, CAIT and MasterCard have delivered ‘Master Your Card’ training programs to more than 50,000 traders in India, with more cities to come in 2016.
The goal is to equip a network of traders throughout India that can engage in their local markets to help train traders on the benefits of transitioning to accept digital payments such as:
Creates incremental value for small merchants by a lift in ticket size
Makes transactions more secure for traders and merchants
Removes much of the risk of handling, transporting and securing large amounts of cash
Creates an instant payment trail for merchants, making it easier to track and record transactions
Enables tools to promote customer loyalty
In addition to helping traders understand the benefits of digital payments, the training sessions share research that analyses consumers’ payment habits and compares their purchasing power through various payment modes.
Traders are also trained to analyse the priorities and spending habits of consumers using analytical tools and trend reports, so as to tailor their business strategies and offers to consumer preferences. CAIT and MasterCard are working everyday to better enable CAIT’s reach to 6 crore traders.
